It is the port of entry to the island and its capital. Perhaps the best hotel facilities are found in this municipality, highlighting the Parador Nacional de La Gomera, an interesting construction of neo-Canarian architecture that has been declared the best hostel in the Canary Islands, with a restaurant recommended in the best gastronomic guides; or the Jardin Tecina hotel, adjacent to the municipality of Alajeró and which has the only golf course on the island, just a few minutes from the island airport.
San Sebastián de La Gomera keeps in its chapel of Puntallana the patron saint of the island, the virgin of Guadalupe, who every five years goes out in procession to all the municipalities of La Gomera, attracting thousands of faithful and curious in the most important festivals of the island: the lustrales parties.
